Ryan has played fiddle for Trampled By Turtles since 2003 and plays in a few other notable americana bands such as Pert Near Sandstone and Fiddle Heirs as well. He is arguably one of the most iconic fiddle players on the current bluegrass scene. The song “Wait So Long” is a great example of his range and skill set on the fiddle.

He was a music teacher before joining the band so teaching fiddle lessons is nothing new to him. With touring on hold due to the pandemic he has had more time to get back into teaching lessons and much like most other teachers, evolved to start giving them online.

Trampled by Turtles are an American bluegrass/folk rock band from Duluth, Minnesota. They have released eight full albums, three of which have reached US Billboard bluegrass chart number one spots. Their fifth release, Palomino, maintained a position in the Top 10 on the bluegrass charts for 52 straight weeks. Their latest album, Life is Good on the Open Road, was released on May 4, 2018.
